North Vancouver City Hall Cited for Architectural Excellence — North Vancouver City Hall has been named a 2013 AIBC Architectural Award winner. Each year, the Architectural Institute of British Columbia showcases the best in regional architecture through its highly-respected awards program. North Vancouver City Hall includes Guardian SunGuard SuperNeutral 54 high-performance glass.
The renovation and expansion project was designed by mcfarlane green biggar ARCHITECTURE + DESIGN with project lead architect Michael Green, Architect AIBC; and completed by MGA | MICHAEL GREEN ARCHITECTURE.

“Guardian SunGuard is a wonderful compliment to the open and transparent design of the facility that allows for abundant daylighting in the atrium and throughout the office space,” said Chris Dolan, director of Commercial Glass Marketing for Guardian Industries. “We congratulate Michael Green and his team and are pleased to be part of this award-winning project.”

Guardian SunGuard SuperNeutral glass helps architects create striking statements of light and color while earning LEED points and controlling energy costs. SunGuard SuperNeutral 54 offers 54 percent visible light transmission and a low, 0.28 solar heat gain coefficient, delivering more natural light, less heat gain and greater energy savings, all of which contribute to the building’s application for LEED silver certification.

The glass was fabricated by Guardian Select Fabricator Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope. The project glazier was Flynn Canada Ltd., a Guardian Glazier Connection member.

North Vancouver City Hall was one of 13 to be recognized by the AIBC, and one of three recipients to receive the prestigious Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia Award in Architecture – Medal Level, recognizing exceptional excellence in architectural projects completed within the past seven years and led by a B.C.-registered architect.
