Along with celebrating our recent competition win in France, the MGA team is brushing up on our French!

The Inventons la Métropole du Grand Paris was a challenge to initiate and accelerate the development of Greater Paris through developer partnerships and innovative designers.

French developer La Compagnie de Phalsbourg assembled a team of some of the most creative and innovative design firms in the world. MGA was excited to be included in this esteemed collective. We worked alongside Kengo Kuma & Associates, OXO Architectes, XTU Architects, Stefano Boeri Architetti, and Koz Architectes together with the landscape architects James Corner Field Operations and Atelier Paul Arene to develop a plan for Villiers-sur-Marne.

Our project, Balcon sur Paris, composed of 10 buildings staggered around the Jardin Métropolitan, between the Congress Centre and the new train station of Grand Paris Express captivated the jury for its innovative approach to the site. The 126,000 square metre development accommodates a mix of uses, including 670 residences, office, retail, hotel, cinemas, and a conference centre. Balcon will represent the first mass timber high-density high-rise project in Europe. Sixty percent of the project will be realized in wood, including the timber high-rise buildings.

MGA and the entire Balcon team are looking forward to the next steps and seeing our vision become reality and to improving our French language skills!
