MGA is designing a new helicopter terminal and maintenance hangar, expanding an existing operator’s base with a larger passenger terminal, better maintenance space for its technicians, and roughly 135,000 sq. ft. of new apron.

Process

The building has a mass timber structure and targets net zero carbon. The apron and airside infrastructure serve today’s Sikorsky helicopters and are planned for electric vertical takeoff aircraft as they come into service, with charging alongside conventional fuelling. The project is delivered in two phases: the first part of the terminal with access and parking, then the rest of the terminal and the hangar.

For MGA, the project continues our mass timber and low-carbon practice in aviation infrastructure, designing for the electric aircraft still to come and treating a working terminal as a place to cut carbon rather than add it.
