We submitted an unsolicited proposal to the VAG to restore the existing gallery, and create satellite galleries around the city, centered around specific themes.

Details

We proposed that the existing Vancouver Art Gallery stay at its current location – with the grand entrance facing Georgia restored – and that we build three satellite galleries: in Gastown, Stanley Park, and under the Granville Street Bridge. These would celebrate and connect the city, and focus on First Nations artists, as well as historical and contemporary work and travelling exhibitions.

Quote

"We need to have a conversation in the city; we need to make this a much more open discussion..." who adds that he supports the gallery and its leadership "...Because the role of the Vancouver Art Gallery is much bigger than just a gallery. It is the critical mass of our cultural identity."
